The Cultural Council of Victoria was formed in 1978 to "encourage, support, develop, and strengthen" the arts in Victoria.
Since it began, the Council provides public information and services, community outreach, arts in education, and youth arts. In doing so, this organization addresses areas of community need not served by any other group or agency.
The Cultural Council of Victoria is partially funded through the hotel/motel tax revenues. Other sources of income include corporate and individual gifts, program revenues, and local, state and foundation grants.
