The Network for Young Artists was founded by Terry Lowry, San Antonio inner-city educator, to provide youth the opportunity to develop their music and performing arts talents while providing mentoring and education programs to ensure that they succeed academically. Our members are youth from varying social and economic backgrounds from the Austin, San Antonio, and the surrounding area as far north as Dallas and as far south as the Rio Grande Valley. Membership is open to all youth ages 4-20 years old. NYA does not focus on preparing youth for professional music careers but rather on building self-esteem and on being successful in life. We find that that our members who regularly sing, dance, or play a musical instrument before audiences of any size also do not hesitate to assume leadership positions in school and in the community.
