Pest Control and Tree Management
Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of company is EntomoBiotics Inc.? We are a full-service pest control and arborcare company.
Do you use Integrated Pest Management (IPM) techniques? Yes. We were one of the first pest control companies to use IPM techniques in Texas. We pioneered the use of IPM methods in Texas nursing homes, residences, and schools.
Do you provide Reduced Impact Services (RIS) for your pest control customers? Yes. RIS uses IPM techniques to provide the best pest management results with methods and products that cause the least impact on the application site. We were among the first companies in Texas to focus on this approach to pest management.
Do Reduced Impact Services cost more? No. In fact, they cost less in the long run.
Since you provide Reduced Impact Services, does that mean you never use ordinary pesticides? RIS does not displace traditional pest control practices entirely. Certain pests, such as fire ants and termites, pose risks that are best resolved using non-organic residual pesticides. Our application methods, developed over years of experience, place such pesticides precisely where they are needed, and in the smallest quantities required. .
Do you treat yards for fire ants? Yes. Our treatment program guarantees full control of fire ants in yards and in lawns around businesses, nursing homes, etc.
Do you treat homes and businesses for subterranean termites? Yes. Our termite treatment program, developed in the course of treating homes, businesses, and sensitive facilities like nursing homes, hospitals and scientific laboratories, is one of the best in Texas.
Do you use baits for termites? Yes. The key to good termite control at a reasonable price is to mix the most cost-effective methods available that, in combination, cause the least impact on the treatment site. Baits fit into that picture nicely.
Are you experienced in the removal of bees from trees, ground-nests, and structures? Yes. We also remove true yellowjackets and hornets.
Even Africanized (i.e., "Killer") bees ? Yes. We are specially trained to deal with Africanized honeybees.
If the hive and honeycomb is large enough to warrant its removal from a structure after the bees have been removed, can you handle that too? Yes. We open the wall, sub-floor, or other cavity in the structure, completely remove the hive with its honey, clean the cavity, seal the entrances used by the bees, and close up the cavity for you. This insures the honey will not contaminate the walls and ceiling near the site of the hive.

How long has EntomoBiotics Inc. been in operation? Our founder has been licensed as a pest control operator in Texas since 1980, and operated the company as a sole proprietorship until incorporating in 1996.
How often do you service your customers? We treat for pests monthly, quarterly, semi-annually or annually, depending on the customer's desires and needs.
What is arborcare? Arborcare is the practice of managing diseases of trees, shrubs and vines to maximize their health.
Do you prune and trim trees? Yes. We consider every trimming and pruning task a work of art intended to please the eye immediately and as the tree develops. Our practices insure this work makes the tree stronger and healthier.
Do you treat trees, shrubs and vines for diseases and pests? Yes, including wood borers in hardwoods and ornamentals, powdery and sooty mildew, scale, termites, and entomosporium leaf spot.
Do you remove diseased or dead trees? Yes. Then we chip and mulch at your site and leave it for you to use in your landscaping. or, if you prefer, all portions of the tree are hauled away.
Do you sterilize your arborcare equipment between jobs? Yes, we do this to assure that diseases present at one arborcare site will not be passed on at our next arborcare assignment.
Do you use wound-sealant when you prune or trim trees and shrubs? Yes, as proper arborcare practices dictate. For trees and shrubs susceptible to disease contracted via untreated wounds, the use of an approved wound sealant is imperative.
Do you take credit cards? No. After offering this service for years, and having almost none of our customers take advantage of it, we stopped accepting credit cards. But we do accept checks drawn on local banks.
Do you provide inspections and estimates? Yes. Due to the high price of gas and the time involved in inspecting, we must charge a fee for most inspections and estimates these days, if no actual work is performed. If you decide to have us perform the work, the inspection and estimate fee is waived.
How large is your service area? We provide pest management services throughout Texas.
Do you provide pest management consultation for customers who prefer to do their own pest control? Yes. In fact, we encourage do-it-yourself pest control for many pest problems. Consultations on the telephone are provided without cost. We charge a nominal consultation fee to visit your site.
