| Our mission statement: To provide services that add value to TGA membership
Founded in 1974, the Texas Gas Association is a non-profit organization whose major objectives are:
1. To provide education, training, and development to the energy industry.
2. To inform consumers of the advantages of using natural gas.
3. To promote the benefits of natural gas products and services.
4. To update membership on proposed legislative and regulatory issues that impact the energy industry.
TGA has approximately 550 members, including distribution, transmission, and master meter operators who deliver more than 95% of all natural gas consumed in Texas, as well as associate members who offer goods and services to the energy industry.
TGA is a volunteer-driven organization. Our core volunteers include officers, board members and committee members who work year-round to help us meet our objectives.
To help our gas system operators meet the RRC requirements, TGA volunteers spent countless hours working with the Texas Engineering Extension Service to put together one of the finest Operator Qualification and Training programs in the nation. Sample OQ plans are available at no cost to members, or can be purchased by non-members.
Each summer TGA holds an Annual Meeting where associate members have the opportunity to exhibit their products and services, and attendees can go to workshops and roundtables, hear magnificent speakers and enjoy fellowship with other TGA members.
TGA also holds various roundtables throughout the year, such as Transmission Roundtables, Marketing Roundtables, Collections Roundtables, where members can get together to discuss current issues affecting the energy industry.
