| George Blasing opened Dinosaur World in 1997 and began operating a series of retail outlets aimed at the “Dinosaur Enthusiast” market. George operated his retail outlets and spent his spare time lecturing to kids in local schools.
In 2004, George was thinking about closing the stores to focus all his attention on his lectures, his true passion. Coincidentally, he was approached about this time by a film producer, Gerard Lodico, and writer/director, Deborah Fazackerley, about producing a series of educational DVDs.
The three, along with a fourth partner, Malcolm Coon and a couple of financial investors, formed Dinosaur World, Inc.
The first DVD, Dinosaur George’s Guide to Prehistoric Life was produced in record time and was available for sale by the end of August 2004. The DVD is currently being sold nationwide though retail outlets, wholesalers and product representatives. The company has already begun plans for the filming of the second in the series, to begin this summer.
In addition to the educational DVDs, the company is involved in the production of a series of educational “Adventure Books”. The first, due out this spring, is entitled “Dinosaur George and the Jaws of Terror”.
In addition to the school lectures, the DVDs and the Adventure books, the company has also put together a Traveling Dinosaur exhibit that is available to schools, museums, or for special events.
Because of George’s thirty plus years of associating with the paleontological community, Dinosaur World, Inc. has strong ties to the world of paleontology and a great working relationship with many of the professionals working in the field. Dinosaur World’s primary mission is to serve as a conduit between these professionals and the many bright young people that are interested in paleontology as a field of study. Toward that end, the Dinosaur World Team has begun working on its largest and most ambitious project to date: The Dinosaur World Museum. George’s vision is to create a world class, high tech, exciting teaching and learning facility combined with the largest collection of dinosaur replicas ever assembled on the planet.
