A non-profit, public service of the Travis County Bar Association, making referrals to prescreened, insured lawyers and to social service agencies.

The Lawyer Referral Service (LRS) is a non-profit, public service of the Travis County Bar Association. We refer over 1,500 callers to private attorneys each month.
All LRS attorneys are in good standing with the State Bar of Texas, their local bar associations, and the Travis County Bar Association, and meet our experience requirements to accept referrals in a particular area of the law.
When you call us, we can refer you to a lawyer in your geographic area who has indicated an interest in handling your type of situation.
The attorney will charge you a $20.00 fee for the first half-hour of your consultation. The attorney donates this fee to LRS to defray our expenses (free half-hour consultation for all personal injury, malpractice, workers' compensation, bankruptcy, and social security disability cases).
There is no further obligation on your part, unless you decide to hire the attorney after the half-hour consultation. The initial consultation will not include legal advice.
Bilingual attorneys are available on request.
To make a referral, we will need some basic information, such as your name, address and telephone number. This information is confidential and is sent to the attorney to show that you called through our service.
We will give you the name and telephone number of an attorney and transfer you to the attorney's office. Ask the attorney what papers you should bring to the first half-hour consultation. Be ready to give the attorney all background information relating to the situation. You may also wish to prepare questions to ask the attorney during the consultation.
You do not have to hire the lawyer after the initial consultation. Feel free to find a lawyer with whom you are comfortable. You have hired a lawyer when you agree to allow the lawyer to do more legal work for you.
