The Texas Savings and Loan Department is an agency of the State of Texas and is subject to the oversight and jurisdiction of the Finance Commission of Texas. Members of the Finance Commission of Texas are appointed by the Governor for six year terms. The Finance Commission is charged with adopting rules and determining general policies for the regulation of state savings banks, state savings and loan associations and the mortgage broker industry in Texas. The chairman of the Finance Commission is Vernon W. Bryant of Fort Worth, Texas.
