| The Grand Re-Opening of the Texas Memorial Museum was held on Saturday, January 24. Two floors of all-new exhibits feature dinosaurs, fossils, gems, minerals and wildlife, as well as a virtual reality facility showing 3-D images of fossils, a fossil preparation area staffed by a working paleontologist, and live-animal wildlife exhibits.
TMM's new Hall of Geology covers the entire first floor and features 5,200 square feet of dinosaurs, fossils, rocks and minerals. Highlighting the exhibit hall is a fossil preparation area where a working paleontologist will field questions from visitors. A hands-on discovery area features specimens from the Museum's collections, to help visitors identify their own fossil finds.
The new fourth-floor Biodiversity Discovery Hall features a cutting-edge visualization facility showcasing 3-D images of fossils scanned in UT's state-of-the-art CT lab and a wide variety of other natural history presentations. The main exhibit area includes colorful and unusual specimens of insects, microscopic cave fauna, fish, and amphibians from the Museum's collections, with hands-on educational tools to help visitors learn more about the living world around them.
