Exhibits of Weslaco and Rio Grande Valley history, including an extensive photograph collection. Hours and location.
|
Chartered on July 26, 1971, the museum features exhibits of Weslaco and Rio Grande Valley history. An extensive photograph collection, artifacts from the first businesses, and early home furnishings depict the history of the settlers who established Weslaco during the 1920's. The surrounding agricultural community is represented by artifacts related to homesteading in the Valley and by tools used on Valley farms and ranches. Notable among the collections is a century-old carreta, a traditional Mexican cart for hauling salt, hay, or general freight.
