| The "Cleanest Little City..." of Shiner Texas can conjure up mental pictures of the big three Bs, (Beer, Brewery and Bocktoberfest). Music fans from across the Nation and Europe have now added a fourth “B” to this Shiner combination, Bill Pekar.
Bill Pekar is a singer/songwriter living in Shiner, Texas and loves what he does. He has been touring Texas with his band for the last few years sharing his "real life" based tunes with fans of all ages. Pekar has a tremendous success with several songs on radio. This success has landed Pekar at the top of the Texas Music Charts and beyond.
Just about every Texas Aggie & Texas Longhorn fan will recognize Bill’s smash hit “The Colors Are All The Same” which was written with hesitant songwriting partner Skip Brown. Pekar & Brown co- wrote 11 out of the 12 songs on Bill’s debut CD “The First Five Years” which was released in June 2001 on the Shiner Texas independent label Corn Fed Records. Other hit songs include “The Koozie Song”, “Dirt Poor”, “Hollow Spot” and “Jack Daniels & Michelle”.
In September 2003, Bill started recording his second CD project at Cedar Creek Studios in Austin Texas. This time around Pekar used his road band "The Rainey Brothers" in the studio. This project which includes 12 new tunes was completed in December 2003. Cedar Creek's Adam Odor contributed his wonderful talents at the mixing console. Bill, Adam and The Rainey Brothers all have contributed love, sweat and tears to creation of the next album which is still yet to be titled.
Corn Fed Records is making plans to release the first single in early summer of 2004 to the Texas radio market then with the full CD release soon after in late summer.
So be sure to catch Pekar and his band as they come through your area. You will have a good time because Bill and his band always have a good time. You will enjoy the new tunes and old ones as well. Come out and listen to the stories behind the songs and it is all about the songs!
